Nessie at Clansman, Loch Ness, Scotland

This morning, we departed our lodgings in Kyleakin, Isle of Skye and drove north, across the Skye Bridge to our first stop of Eilean Donan Castle. This castle was rebuilt in the 1930s on a site with a long defensive/military history. Now the centre of Clan MacRae and popular with film producers. Has featured in Highlander and James Bond.  We visited the castle interior with help from excellent local guides.

Next, we moved on, tracking Loch Duich to Invershiel where we encountered a small herd of feral goats on and close to the road. We stopped for photographs and noticed a few Llamas (or Alpacas) in an adjacent field.

Next, we continued north eventually linking with the western side of Loch Ness. We drove through Drumnadrochit to the Clansman where we joined the 3.00 pm ‘Jacobite’ boat cruise down the Loch to Urquhart Castle and back, a trip which lasted one hour.
