Tobermory Waterfront, Mull, Scotland

This morning, we departed our lodgings at Turnberry, on the Ayrshire Coast, western Scotland and embarked on a drive north via rural Ayrshire, Glasgow, Loch Lomond and Argyll to Oban where we arrived just in time to catch the 2.00 pm ferry to Craignure, Isle of Mull, a crossing which took about 50 minutes.

On arrival at Craignure we drove north for about 30 minutes along a part single -track road to Tobermory which is the ‘capital’ of Mull. Tobermory is characterised by colourful waterfront properties, a bustling harbour and a variety of shops and eateries. We spent an hour or so exploring Tobermory had dinner there and then returned to Craignure via Salen where we stopped to photograph a small number of decaying, abandoned boats which provided a subject for photographs.

Finally, we checked into our hotel close to the waterfront at Craignure.

Weather today was exceptional: bright sunshine and warm temperatures.

Tomorrow we visit the islands of Iona and Staffa.
