Mallaig Harbour, Scotland

This morning, June 26th 2016, we departed our lodgings in Mallaig on Scotland’s West Coast and caught the morning ferry to Armadale on Skye, a journey which took about 30 mins.

On arrival on Skye we drove to the small town of Broadford where we availed of a brief stop for fuel and then drove up the coast, passing an Iron-Age Broch., to Dunvegan, a village where is located on of Skye’s top attractions, Dunvegan Castle. This castle is the seat of the Chief of Clan MacLeod. The building has a long history dating back to around the 13th century. Adjacent to the castle are well maintained and pleasant gardens.

Next, we returned to Broadford and then on to our destination for the night of Kyle of Lochalsh which is located over the Skye Bridge on the Scottish mainland.

Unfortunately, our touring today was curtailed by persistent rain and low cloud.

Tomorrow, we venture up the Great Glen to Loch Ness and then down to central Scotland.
