Walking the Walk along Clyde Walkway, Scotland

Walking the Walk along Clyde Walkway, Scotland

This evening, I am posting images taken on today’s small group hike along a stretch of the Clyde Walkway in S.W.Scotland.

The entire Walkway extends to some 40 miles/65 km long, running between Partick in Glasgow and New Lanark in South Lanarkshire. The stretch covered today was 14.5 kilometers between Mauldslie Bridge and New Lanark; it connected with former coal mining locations and the early industrial period.

The River Clyde is 109 miles long. It was critically important during the Industrial Revolution, powering numerous mills, facilitating trade and shipbuilding.

Today, the scenery was far removed from the grimy industrial period with green fields, cattle, rural communities and riparian scenes.
