Falls of Acharn, Perthshire, Scotland

This evening, I am posting information on and images of the Falls of Acharn in Perthshire, central Scotland.

These falls are impressive and reach a height of 24.5m ( 80 feet).

Here is a video clip of the falls-

The falls are best accessed as follows:

  • From Kenmore at northern end of Loch Tay travel down the eastern side of the loch,  past the Crannog Centre to the small village of Acharn.
  • On reaching Acharn go past former mill on left, over bridge and park nearby.
  • Follow the side of the burn (stream) up a farm track for about 10 mins. This is relatively steep and offers superb views of Ben Lawers (mountain) and Loch Tay.

  • Near the top is a sign to a hermit’s cave. Follow the path to the left through to a viewing platform.

After viewing the Falls it is possible to continue up and follow a trail round to the left which will eventually return the visitor to Kenmore. There is also the possibility of a diversion to visit the Greenland Stone Circle at a higher altitude with impressive views of the landscape.
