Conic Hill Trail with Loch Lomond

Conic Hill Trail with Loch Lomond

This evening, I am reporting on one of today’s events which formed part of the nationwide walking festival. This was a ‘Walk About’ based at Balloch Castle Country Park, close to the southern tip of Loch Lomond.

The particular hike which I am reporting on had the following characteristics:

  • Distance: About 6 miles.
  • Time: 3 hours.
  • Location: East bank of Loch Lomond near Balmaha.
  • Destination: Conic Hill,a sharp little summit rising above Balmaha, on the Highland Boundary Fault.
  • Ascent: 350 metres.
  • Terrain: Good paths with steps.
  • Overview: This short hillwalk offers superb views over Loch Lomond and its many islands.

As will be evident from the images below, the hike was well patronised although weather was overcast with some rain.
