This evening, I am posting information on Talisker Distillery, Isle of Skye, which is located off the N.W. coast of Scotland.

Key facts and information concerning Talisker Distillery:

  • Located in CarbostĀ on the banks of Loch Harport on the west of Skye.
  • Has a long history dating back to 1830.
  • Owned by international drinks group, Diageo.
  • Until 1928 the spirit was triple distilled but from thereon double distillation was adopted, in common with otherĀ non-Lowlands distilleries.
  • Output is about 2.6m litres per annum from five stills.
  • Spirit is defined as medium-peated.
  • 10-year-old is the principal single malt product. Other single malts are:
    • 57 degrees North.
    • Port Ruighe
    • Storm
    • Dark Storm
    • Friends of the Classic Malts
    • 18-year-old.
    • Distillers Edition
  • There is a Visitor Centre and tours of the distillery are available.
