Hiking the Ayrshire Coastal Path, Scotland

This evening, I am reporting on today’s group hike along the Ayrshire Coastal Path starting from Prestwick and ending Troon.Location is about 34 miles S.W. of Glasgow with the Coastal Path following the edge of the Firth of Clyde. Both Prestwick and Troon are home to famous links golf courses with latter, Royal Troon, having hosted the 2016 British Open. On this same coast is Trump Turnberry

The group approached Troon along along a magnificent stretch of sandy beach with views of Isle of Arran opposite. On reaching Troon (pop 14100) the group followed the route via South Beach, Marina and North Sands to the Railway Station.

In course of the hike the group encountered an oldĀ Inn, Fishmarket, harbour, timber yard, beach scenes, public art, a decorated tree and Spring tree blossom.

Weather today was cold and windy with rain threatening.
