Lobster Pots at St Andrews

This morning, guests started the day with a visit to Edinburgh Castle which dominates the Edinburgh skyline and is a popular tourist attraction.

At about 11.00 am we departed Edinburgh and drove east to visit key sites along the Fife Coast which borders the Firth of Forth and North Sea. Our first stop was Anstruther and its famous Fish Bar where we availed of a fish and chip lunch.

Next, we continued east calling in at Crail Harbour and then on to the famous university town of St Andrews. Here we visited the famous Cathedral (a ruin) and then to opposite end of town to the golf courses including the Old Course.We also drove past the West Sands where opening scenes of Chariots of Fire was filmed.

We returned to Edinburgh via Lower Largo and the birthplace of Robinson Crusoe role model, Alexander Selkirk.

Tomorrow, we re-connect with the Mary, Queen of Scots theme and move to central Scotland.
