Isle of Skye Bridge from Kyleakin

Today, we benefited from favourable weather conditions, albeit with some rain showers.

We departed our lodgings in Kyleakin and drove north through Broadford to our first stop at the popular viewpoint of Sligachan where we were able to view the rugged landscapes of the Red Cuillin Mountains and Glen Sligachan.

Next, on up towards Portree stopping en-route to photograph a magnificent rainbow.

On arrival at Portree we visited the colourful harbour, availed of light refreshments and shopped.

Next, onwards north along a single track road along east coast stopping to photograph the Old Man of Storr geological feature.

Next, to the viewpoint of Kilt Rock.

Next, to Staffin Museum where we were able to view fossilised dinosaur footprints from the Jurassic period which were found locally.

Next to Staffin beach and bay. An excellent scenic location and site of some of the dinosaur discoveries.

Next, north-west through the Quiraing. unfortunately, we were unable to stop here due over capacity of the limited parking facilities.

Next to Uig where we availed of some refreshments and visited the local commercial pottery.

Next along the north of Skye to Dunvegan Castle which is home to the Chief of Clan MacLeod. We had lunch here then guest toured the Castle interior and the well maintained Highland garden.

Finally, we returned to Kyleakin down the west of Skye stopping for view of the Iron Age Broch.

Tomorrow, we travel up the Great Glen to Inverness.
