Dog Buggy outside Supermarket

The past 24 hours has witnessed a reversion to wintry conditions with serious snow forecast for southern Scotland and northern England.

The overnight snow coupled with sunshine provided a good backdrop to my walk around south Glasgow this morning the results of which can be seen in the portfolio of images featuring in this post.

Inside Garnethill Synagogue.

This evening, I am posting information on Garnethill Synagogue in the centre of Glasgow, Scotland.

Summary facts and information as follows:

  • Opened in 1879 to replace an earlier and smaller synagogue in George Street. At this time the population of Jews in Glasgow city was barely 1000.This was prior to a big uplift in Jewish migration to Scotland in the 1890s.

Jacobite Express traversing the Glenfinnan Viaduct.

This evening, I am posting a portfolio of images and videos concerning the popular Jacobite Express Steam Train which operates during the tourist season along the 41 mile (66 km) route between Fort William and Mallaig in the Scottish Highlands. This train ride has proved extremely popular on two counts: (1) The outstanding scenic beauty via Loch Eil, Glenfinnan and Arisaig and (2) Connection with the ‘Harry Potter’ stories and film via the ‘Hogwarts Express’.
