Shipston-on-Stour is centrally situated in the English Cotswolds region with easy access to such popular locations as Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick (and its famous castle), Oxford (and its colleges), Chipping Campden and the prehistoric Rollright Stones.

Today, Scotland was hit by Storm Ali entailing heavy rain and winds in range 65-75mph. Scheduled trip to Stirling Castle for guests off a visiting cruise ship had to be cancelled and the ship itself became a casualty of the storm when it was forced from its mooring on the River Clyde. Instead, I toured Rouken Glen Park on foot and took photographs of the wind damage.,

Mangerton was a Tower House and important power base for the Armstrongs at a time when the entire Scottish Borders region was lawless. There is a record of one Alexander Armstrong at the Tower in 1378 followed by Armstrong family ownership through to 1629 when the property was transferred to Francis Scott, Thereafter, the Tower appears to have gone into decline.
