Lanholm and River Esk, Scottish Borders.

This evening, I am focusing on Langholm in the Scottish Borders region, about seventy-eight miles south of Edinburgh.

This town (population of about 2500) has an interesting history most prominent aspect of which is involvement with the Border Reivers era and Clan Armstrong in particular. This afternoon, I am posting information on key sites to be visited in context of a one day Clan Armstrong themed tour, in the region of Langholm and Newcastleton in the Scottish Borders region. Driving time from Edinburgh is about two hours, allowing for one stop en-route.

Langholm Castle, Scotland

This evening, I am focusing on Langholm Castle in the Scottish Borders.

Langholm is a small town located about 72 miles/2 hours south of Edinburgh. The ruined castle, a Tower House, sits on a piece of parkland between the River Esk and former course of the Ewes Water (river).
