Today marked an adverse change in weather.

We departed our Dunkeld lodgings for Amulree and then embarked on a drive through Glen Quaich but heavy fog resulted in negligible visibility despite which we were able to observe a number of unusual birds: Quail, Red Grouse, Pheasant and a Hawk (or similar bird of prey).

Royal Apartments, Stirling Castle

This morning, we departed our Edinburgh lodgings and drove south for about 20 mins to visit Edinburgh’s ‘other’ castle, Craigmillar. ┬áThis was originally owned by the Preston family then Gilmours and finally Government ownership after it fell into ruin. The fabric is now in good order and affords visitors an excellent insight into the medieval castle.

Lobster Pots at St Andrews

This morning, guests started the day with a visit to Edinburgh Castle which dominates the Edinburgh skyline and is a popular tourist attraction.
