This evening, I am focusing on Melrose Abbey in the Scottish Borders region, about forty miles south of Edinburgh.

Melrose is one of a  group of four ruined abbeys which date from medieval times, the others being Dryburgh,Jedburgh and Kelso.

Dryburgh Abbey, Scottish Borders

This evening, I am focusing on Dryburgh Abbey in the Scottish Borders region.Location is about eight miles S.E. of Melrose, which is also home to a ruined medieval abbey.

Jedburgh Abbey

Today, we benefited from dry and sunny weather.

First, we drive to nearby Scott’s View which is reputed to be one of the favourite landscapes of Sir Walter Scott (1771-1832), a romantic novelist and poet who resided nearby. Location is near Melrose and landscape includes the Eldon Hills.
