This evening, I am posting more images of colourful Spring flowers taken at Greenbank Garden, Glasgow, Scotland. This garden has changed little since it was established in the 17th century. The property is owned by Scotland’s National Trust with the garden open to the public throughout the year, thus there is always something to appreciate.

This evening, I am focusing on Glasgow’s Pollok Country Park which is located south of the city centre with main access from Pollokshaws.

Visit Holyrood Park, Visit Edinburgh

This evening, I am posting information on Holyrood Park in Edinburgh, Scotland which I explored yesterday.

The park comprises an extensive open space featuring small lochs (lakes) but is essentially hilly with the peak, Arthur’s Seat, sitting at the centre at a height of 251 metres/823 feet. Arthur’s Seat and adjacent area is of volcanic origin dating back 310m-360m years when Scotland was situated near to the equator. There is also an exposed cliff edge named Salisbury Crags which was formed slightly later than Arthur’s Seat by magma flowing from deep inside the earth.

Alnwick Tower

This evening, I am focusing on the (now ruined) Bishops’ Palace in Lincoln, England. This dates back to construction by Bishop Robert de Chesney in the 12th century and a re-build shortly afterwards by Hugh of Avalon (appointed 1186) as a function of a serious earthquake. Heligan Garden, Cornwall, England

This morning, I visited the impressive Lost Garden of Heligan in Cornwall, S.W. England.

Heligan has a history dating back to the 1770s subsequent to which extensive formal gardens were developed by the Tremayne family who resided at the mansion in the heart of the estate known as Heligan House. However, post World War I the gardens were allowed to deteriorate and became a total wilderness.
