Scott’s View, Melrose, Scotland

This morning, we departed our lodgings in Dunfermline, north of Edinburgh and drive south for about 90 minutes to our first destination of Abbotsford House, near Melrose. This was the home of famous romantic novelist and poet, Sir Walter Scott (15 August 1771 – 21 September 1832) who wrote the Waverley Novels and much more.

This evening, I am posting information on today’s small group hike between Dundonald and Troon in South Ayrshire, S.W. Scotland. Distance covered was about seven miles.

Winter shadows over White Cart Water, Pollok Country Park, Glasgow

Today, parts of the U.K. are experiencing the results of exceptionally heavy rainfall with two large cities, Leeds and York, suffering heavy flooding. However, Scotland has, so far, escaped the worst of the inundations. Temperature in Glasgow remains unseasonably mild at about 7 centigrade during daytime.
