This afternoon, I visited Pollock House near Glasgow. This is an interesting grand mansion formerly owned by the Maxwell family who can point to about 700 years of castles and mansions on and around the same site. This particular mansion was designed by famous Scots architect, Robert Adam and continued by his son, John. It dates from the mid 18th century and falls into the ‘Palladian Mansion’ category.

This morning I went round to Pollock House with objective of observing farriers working on the Clydesdale horses. Unfortunately, there had occurred a mistake in promoting this event (which happened yesterday) so I was left with the prospect of just a picture of one of the horses, Duke, but, by way of consolation, I found the immaculately kept gardens which afforded a magnificent display of colours across the spectrum at this time of year. The images are mainly tulips, as shown below.

This evening, I decided to obtain a little exercise and cycled down to Pollock House with aim of obtaining garden images of emerging Springtime.

P0llock House is an impressive Palladian mansion dating from the mid 18th century which is built on an estate which for hundreds of years has been home to the Maxwell family. The house is now in care of the National Trust and is open to the public.

The gardens at Pollock House are interesting but hardly a riot of colour ad diversity. Image below shows a fairly new formal garden in the library parterre. Some interesting shapes and colourful polyanthus.
