Al fresco dining in London

This morning, I embarked on a rail  journey, first from Glasgow to Edinburgh, Scotland then south via the east coast to London from where I am writing this. Commencing tomorrow, a group of fifteen will assemble here in readiness for a two-week tour of Roman Britain.

This evening, I have just returned from a small group dining event at the Butterfly & Pig pub in Shawlands, Glasgow.

Shawlands, which translates as ‘woodlands’, is a mixed but vibrant suburb in the southside of Glasgow.

Brodick with snow-capped Goat Fell in distance.

This evening, I am focusing on Brodick, principal town on the Isle of Arran with population of less than 1000.. The name ‘Brodick’ is derived from the Old Norse for broad bay and points to the period up to the mid-13th century when large tracts of the West of Scotland were under Norwegian control.
