Today, we departed Pitlochry in central Scotland and drove to Inverness in the Highlands visiting Dalwhinnie Distillery, Culloden Battlefield and Clava Cairns en-route.

Gilnockie Tower in the Scottish Borders region is the only survivor from around 60-80 stone or wooden towers of similar design in the region of Eskdale, Ewesdale and Liddesdale. The Tower dates from the 16th century and is situated on the west bank of the River Esk. The Tower is known as the Clan Armstrong Centre.

Today, we embarked on a twelve-hour, Glasgow-Langholm-Glasgow tour with emphasis on Clan Armstrong in the Langholm region of the Scottish Borders. Sites covered included Rowanburn, Gilnockie Tower, Langholm Castle, Tourneyholm, Ettleton Cemetery, Milnholm Cross, Mangerton Tower and Carlenrig.
