Glenashdale Falls, Isle of Arran, Scotland

This evening, I am posting information on the spectacular waterfall on the Isle of Arran, Scotland known as Glenashdale Falls.

The Falls are accessed via a hiking trail, which follows the line of the Glenashdale Burn (stream), and runs directly west from a starting point at Ashdale Bridge at Whiting Bay on the S.E. coast of Arran. This is a fascinating hike which connects with various aspects of nature such as trees, fungi and flora as illustrated in this blog post. The trail can ultimately link the hiker with the early Neolithic site known as Giants’ Graves.

This evening, I am reporting on the quiet and genteel village of Whiting Bay which is located on the S.E. corner of Isle of Arran which sits off Scotland’s West Coast.

Artist’s impression of Giants’ Graves Neolithic site, Arran, Scotland

This evening, I am reporting on just one aspect of the Isle of Arran’s rich prehistoric heritage as manifested in the site  known as Giants’ Graves. This comprises two, chambered burial cairns dating from the  early Neolithic site (over 5000 years ago). The cairns are 131 feet apart and stand on a ridge overlooking Whiting Bay and the sea at a height of 394 feet.
