This morning, we departed our lodgings in Troon, on the coast south of Glasgow and caught the 11.00 am ferry to Larne, Northern Ireland. This sea crossing took 2 hours 15 mins and passed close to Ailsa Craig en-route. Ailsa Craig is a small island of volcanic origin from which Scottish curling stones are manufactured.

This morning, we departed our lodgings in Broadford, Skye and drove down to Armadale to catch the 9.20 am ferry to Mallaig on the Scottish mainland. On arrival at Mallaig we proceeded as follows:

Today was characterised by a wet, overcast morning followed by a dry afternoon with sunny periods.

We departed our Broadford lodgings and then drove north, following the coastal route round lochs Ainort and Sligachan with views of the islands Scalpay and Raasay to our first stop at the Aros Centre near Portree where we visited a book fair.
