Tour Highlands, Touring Scotland.

This morning we were collected by our driver Craig who was attired in full Highland Dress.

First, we drove across the Forth Bridge to Fife and then east to our first stop of Anstruther, a pretty former fishing village on the coast which now boasts a marina and is popular with visitors.

This morning, we departed our lodgings at the Royal Hotel, Dunkeld and then proceeded as follows:

Approx one hour drive east through te rich farmlands of Perthshire and Angus where we observed maturing crops such as barley and extensive soift fruit growing, mainly strawberries and raspberries. We duly arrived at our first objective of Glamis Castle, which has been in the same family for about 600 years and has connections with British royalty, particularly the late Queen Mother. The group undertook a guided tour of the Castle.

This morning, I collected my small group from their Edinburgh lodgings and then drove out of Edinburgh, across the Forth Bridge and then east first stopping at Lower Largo which was the home of Alexander Selkirk, real world role model for Robinson Crusoe.

Dunkeld Cathedral. Historic site on banks of River Tay. As a Christian site dates from 6th century AD with current structure built in 13th C.

Touring Scotland

This morning, I collected guests from Cameron House, Loch Lomond and then proceeded as follows:

Drove to Stirling in central Scotland. Prime objective here was the famous castle. We visited all the key sites including Great Hall, chapel, kitchens and weaving.

Visit Castles of Scotland

This morning, I am continuing my Scottish castles theme with information on five further castles which I have visited in context of my Scotland Tours, viz:

Glamis Castle: This is located on the east of Scotland and is certainly accessible within the day from Edinburgh. Glamis, which pronounced ‘Glarms’, has long association with the British Royal Family, in particular the late Queen Mother. This castle evolved out of hunting lodge around the 13th century. It is now something of a fairy tale castle located in pleasant grounds and benefits from an interesting garden. A very popular tourist destination. There is usually a herd of Highland Cows nearby which are popular with photographers.

Scotland Tour

This morning, I collected guests from Edinburgh Marriott (Dalmahoy) at 9.00 am and proceeded north across Forth Road Bridge to East Neuk of Fife as follows:

Lower Largo where was born Alexander Selkirk, the real role model for Robinson Crusoe. We stopped at the sandy beach here to admire the scenery.
