Inside Giffnock Synagogue, Glasgow.

Background History

Early migrants came from Holland and Germany with an upsurge post 1860 from Russia and Poland. The current Jewish population of Scotland is about 7,000 with most concentrated around Glasgow and Edinburgh. Garnethill is a prominent synagogue in Glasgow and Scotland’s oldest.

The past 24 hours has witnessed a reversion to wintry conditions with serious snow forecast for southern Scotland and northern England.

The overnight snow coupled with sunshine provided a good backdrop to my walk around south Glasgow this morning the results of which can be seen in the portfolio of images featuring in this post.
