Jacobite Express traversing the Glenfinnan Viaduct.

This evening, I am posting a portfolio of images and videos concerning the popular Jacobite Express Steam Train which operates during the tourist season along the 41 mile (66 km) route between Fort William and Mallaig in the Scottish Highlands. This train ride has proved extremely popular on two counts: (1) The outstanding scenic beauty via Loch Eil, Glenfinnan and Arisaig and (2) Connection with the ‘Harry Potter’ stories and film via the ‘Hogwarts Express’.

Glenfinnan Monument at Loch Shiel, Scotland.

This evening, I am posting information on the Glenfinnan Monument which is located at the head of Loch Shiel, seventeen miles west of Fort William on the A830 in the Scottish Highlands.

Piper at Glencoe

This morning I collected tour group from Glasgow Airport at 7.45 am and then embarked on a trip as follows:

  • North to Loch Lomond via Dumbarton. Here we stopped at the heritage village of Luss on the banks of the Loch and visited the church in burial ground of which is a Viking-era ‘hogback’ grave marker which may date from the 9th century.
