This morning, we departed our Inverness lodgings and drive south, down Scotland’s Great Glen (valley) with first┬ástop about half way down Loch Ness at Castle Urquhart.

Piper at Glencoe

This morning I collected tour group from Glasgow Airport at 7.45 am and then embarked on a trip as follows:

  • North to Loch Lomond via Dumbarton. Here we stopped at the heritage village of Luss on the banks of the Loch and visited the church in burial ground of which is a Viking-era ‘hogback’ grave marker which may date from the 9th century.

Friendly Red Deer at King House Hotel, Glencoe

This evening, we are in Arisaig, a small coastal village on the West of Scotland with sea views across the Sound of Arisaig and the isle of Eigg. Legend has it the real Long John Silver lived and worked in this area before becoming a fictional character created by R.L. Stevenson.
