The Roman remains at Dunning represent the northern rampart of a fortified marching (short-term) camp which was enclosed within a shallow ditch and palisade constructed by Roman troops.The site probably dates from the Flavian campaigns of the AD 80s and as such may be contemporary with the Inchtuthil site. This location is a candidate for the site of the famous battle of Mons Graupius in AD 83 or AD 84.



St Serf’s Church, Dunning, Perthshire, Scotland

Dunning is a small village situated about 10 miles S.W. of the city of Perth in central Scotland. The village is situated in a rich arable landscape which has been occupied since Neolithic times. Close by is Forteviot, an even smaller village now but formerly a Pictish power base and premier ritual complex in the East of Scotland.
