Summer scene at Fortingall

This morning, we departed Inverness and embarked on a tour as follows:

  • First to nearby Culloden, site of the last battle on British soil in 1746. Here the forces of Bonnie Prince Charlie were defeated by a British army under General Cumberland.

Today marked an adverse change in weather.

We departed our Dunkeld lodgings for Amulree and then embarked on a drive through Glen Quaich but heavy fog resulted in negligible visibility despite which we were able to observe a number of unusual birds: Quail, Red Grouse, Pheasant and a Hawk (or similar bird of prey).

Hare Bells, Loch Tay, Scotland

This morning, we departed our lodgings in Dunkeld, central Scotland and embarked on a tour as follows:

First to nearby Loch of the Lowes Visitor Centre and Wildlife Reserve where we spent about one hour watching the bird life with focus on a family of Ospreys. Other birds spotted included Great Crested Grebe, Greater Spotted Woodpecker, Pheasant, Mallard Ducks and many more.
