This morning, we departed our lodgings in Dunkeld and drove south for one hour to our first stop of Inchmahome Priory which is located on an island in the Lake of Menteith. This now ruined structure dates from the 13th century and was home to a contingent of Augustinian canons. Our key reason for visiting the site was the Mary, Queen of Scots connection; Mary was taken here as a child, in September 1547, for safety in the face of threat from an English army based near Edinburgh

Strathendrick Pipe Band Association on Drymen Green.

This evening, I am focusing on the village of Drymen which is situated in the Trossachs region of Scotland, eighteen miles north of Glasgow,on the east side of Loch Lomond.

Drymen is a popular with tourists and as such benefits from a good supply of hotels and other types of lodgings plus shops, craft shops, Post Office, bank and various pubs. Being on the route of the West Highland Way a regular contingent of hikers pass through Drymen during the summer months.
