Highland Cattle in Glen Nevis, Scotland

This morning, We departed our lodgings in Edinburgh and drove north to Stirling passing the Kelpies sculpture en-route.

At Stirling, we spent over one hour visiting all key aspects of the famous castle including Royal Apartments, Great Hall, Military Museum,  Chapel Royal, Kitchens and Tapestry Studio.

Central Scotland Plain from Wallace Monument

This morning we commenced our extended tour of Scotland.

We departed lodgings at Glasgow Airport and drove north with first stop at Stirling Castle which has played an important role in Scotland’s history, both as a military fortress and Royal Palace. We visited all the main aspects including Royal Apartments, Great Hall and kitchens.

Royal Apartments, Stirling Castle

This morning, we departed our Edinburgh lodgings and drove south for about 20 mins to visit Edinburgh’s ‘other’ castle, Craigmillar.  This was originally owned by the Preston family then Gilmours and finally Government ownership after it fell into ruin. The fabric is now in good order and affords visitors an excellent insight into the medieval castle.
