Glen Quaich, Perthshire, Scotland

This evening, I am posting information with video clips on a fascinating backroads tour in Perthshire, central Scotland.

The drive covers about twelve miles along single track and, mainly, high elevation road over moorland between Amulree and Kenmore.

Scottish Thistles at Stones of Stenness, Orkney

Today, we focused on the rich historical heritage of Orkney, a group of islands off Scotland’s northern coast. The history is mainly focused on the Neolithic and Viking periods (about 4000 years apart). Scenery was also fascinating with rural, coastal and loch (lake) views supplemented with wildlife such as seals, swans, geese, ducks and other birds. Weather was favourable, being mainly dry throughout the day.

Hare Bells, Loch Tay, Scotland

This morning, we departed our lodgings in Dunkeld, central Scotland and embarked on a tour as follows:

First to nearby Loch of the Lowes Visitor Centre and Wildlife Reserve where we spent about one hour watching the bird life with focus on a family of Ospreys. Other birds spotted included Great Crested Grebe, Greater Spotted Woodpecker, Pheasant, Mallard Ducks and many more.
