Loch Lomond Landscape, Scotland

This evening, I am posting images taken on a recent 8.5 mile circular walk in the Loch Lomond National Park, Scotland.

Loch Lomond is the largest expanse of freshwater in Great Britain. It is the centrepiece of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park and is surrounded by mountainous landscapes including Ben Lomond.

This morning, we departed our lodgings in Oban and drove south for about 45 minutes to our first stop at Kilmartin Glen, an important prehistoric linear cemetery dating from around 3500 BC to 1500 BC. Due to time constraints we restricted our visit to two sites: Temple Wood Stone Circles and Dunchraigaig Cairn. At the former our arrival coincided with a tour group performing a private ceremony in context of a tour of sacred sites.

View from Queen’s View, Trossachs

This evening, I am posting information on scenic views from vantage point Queen’s View in the Trossachs region of Scotland and not be confused with namesake near Pitlochry in Central Scotland. The Trossachs viewpoint is named after excursions undertaken by Queen Victoria who was very fond of Scotland.
