Knoydart Mountains

This evening, I am posting information on Knoydart, a mountainous peninsula which lies to the S.E.of Isle of Skye, between lochs Nevis and Hourn.

For those interested in etymology the name is ultimately derived from Old Norse and means Cnut’s Fjord. The Vikings controlled vast tracts of the West of Scotland for about four hundred years.

Loch Carron from Plockton

This evening, I am focusing on the pleasant village of Plockton which sits on the banks of Loch Carron in the West of Scotland near Kyle of Lochalsh and the Skye Bridge. This area falls within the Highlands of Scotland.

Snow Plough at work

This morning I ventured out in a heavy snowstorm. As will be evident from images, roads were affected. Glasgow Airport was closed for a short while. However, the conditions provided some useful photo opportunities, with some families taking the opportunity for sledging. These conditions are relatively infrequent.
