Tour group at Glasgow Necropolis.

This evening, I am reporting on today’s custom tour of Glasgow, Scotland’s largest city.

First, to Glasgow Cathedral, which dates from the 13th-15th centuries, albeit on a much older Christian site possibly dating back to the 6th century AD. Architecture style is Romanesque. Now used for Presbyterian worship the Cathedral was originally part of the Roman Catholic Church when it was described by the Pope as “a special daughter of the Roman Church”.

Jacobite Express Steam Engine at Mallaig

This morning, we departed our lodgings in Fort William in the Scottish Highlands and drove to the local Railway Station where guest joined the 10.15 am Jacobite Steam Train departure for Mallaig which duly arrived 12.25pm. This is ranked as one of the world’s top train rides passing, as it does, through majestic Highlands scenery and over the famous Glenfinnan Viaduct aka ‘Harry Potter Bridge’.
