Edradour Distillery, Pitlochry, Scotland.

This morning we departed our lodgings in Stirling and drove north into Perthshire.

First we called in at the country town of Crieff for a short visit and then on to the nearby Famous Grouse Experience at Glenturret Distillery.  Glenturret is a sister distillery of Highland Park and Macallan. The group produces the Famous Grouse blend which incorporates single malts from the three group distilleries plus many others across Scotland.

Edradour Distillery, Pitlochry, Scotland.

This evening, I am focusing on Edradour, one of Scotland’s smallest whisky distilleries.

Edradour is located near to Pitlochry in central Scotland, in turn some seventy miles north of Edinburgh and conveniently situated on the A9 highway and tourist route to Inverness.

Tour group at Blair Castle

This morning, we departed our lodgings in Pitlochry and embarked on a tour ending in Inverness in the Scottish Highlands.

First call was Edradour Distillery where we arrived at 9.45 am and were provided with a private tour covering the malting, mashing, fermentation, distillation and maturation processes.  Edradour was once Scotland’s smallest distillery but has recently moved up the ranks and is currently in process of a major expansion programme which will see output rise from 130k litres p.a. to 400k litres p.a.
