This morning, I collected guests arriving on early flight at Glasgow Airport. We then proceeded as follows:

To Luss and full Scottish breakfast at Loch Lomond Arms. This included a taste of haggis! next a quick walk down through Luss village and a walk on the pier to photograph Loch Lomond basking in unusual Spring sunshine.

Today was the third and final day of our Scotland whisky tour. We had overnighted at Aberfoyle and after breakfast went for a short tour into the Trossachs to visit the lochs and Queen’s View.

This morning we departed our lodgings in Bowmore and visited Bowmore and Bunnahabhain distilleries. In between we called in to the historic site of Finlaggan, power base of the Lords of the Isles during the medieval period.

This evening, I am focusing on the Johnnie Walker whisky connection at Kilmarnock in Ayrshire, S.W. Scotland.

The famous Johnnie Walker brand had its genesis in Kilmarnock in 1820 when John Walker, aged 15 yrs, was set up in business as a grocer by the trustees of his deceased father, an Ayrshire farmer named Alexander Walker of Todriggs. John started to blend his own whisky, a practice carried on by his son, Alexander who managed to turn the grocery shop into a global business. John Walker is buried in Kilmarnock in the graveyard of the former St. Andrew’s Glencairn Church.

This evening, I am posting information on Balmoral Castle, a popular visitor attraction situated about 50 miles/80 km west of Aberdeen in the Scottish Highlands. Other popular visitor sites in the area include the small town of Braemar, Braemar Castle, Crathie Kirk and Royal Lochnagar Distillery.

Auchentoshan Distillery, Glasgow, Scotland

This morning, I collected my tour guests from central Glasgow and then proceeded to visit Auchentoshan ( Glasgow) and Tulliabardine ( Perthshire) whisky distilleries. On the return to Glasgow we called in at Doune Castle, near Stirling, which is famous for its role in the film ‘Monty Python and the Holy Grail’. A photo record of this tour is provided below.
